A general model of binary opinions updating

چکیده

We generalise Grabisch and Rusinowska (2013) to non-conformist societies. Agents in a network are iteratively picking yes/no opinion, where updating stems from mutual influence. introduce notion of groups based on the signs examine few canonical societies, namely, conformist, communitarian, with leaders, anti-conformist agents. investigate stability issues. Any kind opinion model can be hosted by our formalism, provided that: (i) alternatives binary; (ii) adoption is reversible independent among agents; (iii) process Markovian stationary; (iv) number agents finite; (v) time discrete.

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

A general probability model for the inheritance of binary traits

In the era of genomics, large scale trait mapping studies are conducted. These experiments involve hundreds of markers and increasingly frequently they focus on complex traits. Complex traits are interesting because of the inherent multigenic nature of the traits, and the possible interaction between genes on the phenotype. Binary traits, such as disease resistance, have a simple phenotype but ...

Instance-based Learning: A General Model of Repeated Binary Choice

A common practice in cognitive modeling is to develop new models specific to each particular task. We question this approach and draw on an existing theory, instance-based learning theory (IBLT), to explain learning behavior in three different choice tasks. The same instance-based learning model generalizes accurately to choices in a repeated binary choice task, in a probability learning task, ...

A general framework for updating belief distributions

We propose a framework for general Bayesian inference. We argue that a valid update of a prior belief distribution to a posterior can be made for parameters which are connected to observations through a loss function rather than the traditional likelihood function, which is recovered as a special case. Modern application areas make it increasingly challenging for Bayesians to attempt to model t...
